Mission
Light the Mic is a community event designed to express pain, joy, laughter, love, depression, sadness, weaknesses, and strengths through poetry. Open mic sessions will be sure to keep the audience in stitches.
These events are all about uplifting and supporting each other in the community. We must all take responsibility for speaking out against gun violence and drug use.
This tour will continue from city to city, with the National Championship being held in the fall. Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity to win money and meet new people.

The Rules
- Number 1: The first rule is to pay attention to the rules of the competition.
- Number 2: We don't mind a little cussing, but you must not be overly profane. We will count those cusswords and cut you off if you get too liberal with the potty mouth.
- Number 3: Your lyrics cannot support gun violence, gang violence, violence period, or promote drug use in any fashion. You will be disqualified immediately.
- Number 4: Watch what you say. No offending people based on gender, race, gender identification, sexual preferences, and anything else that may fall into these categories.
- Number 5: Have fun, be educational, be influential, and be spectacular.
- Number 6: Register, be on time, and in the designated space to participate
- Number 7: REMEMBER, THIS IS ABOUT LOVE, EMPOWERMENT, AND UPLIFTING THE COMMUNITIES IN WHICH WE LIVE.
